Expose and Bonding in Brandon
Expose and Bonding Near You
What is Expose and Bonding?
Here’s how it works:
- First, the oral surgeon gently removes a small piece of gum to “expose” the hidden tooth.
- Then, a small bracket is “bonded” (glued) to the tooth.
- Your orthodontist will later use braces or a small chain to slowly move the tooth into the right place.
This procedure helps make room for the tooth to come in the right way instead of staying trapped under the gums.
When Is Expose and Bonding Needed?
- A permanent tooth has not come in, even after it’s supposed to
- A baby tooth won’t fall out, and the adult tooth is stuck behind it
- X-rays show a tooth growing in the wrong direction
- Your orthodontist needs all your teeth in place to complete your braces treatment

FAQs
What is expose and bonding?
Does the procedure hurt?
Local anesthesia combined with oral or IV sedation keeps you comfortable and pain-free during the procedure. Mild swelling, tenderness, or discomfort may occur afterward but usually subsides within a few days.
How long does it take to recover?
Recovery usually takes a few days. Following post-op care, eating soft foods, and maintaining good oral hygiene help reduce swelling, prevent infection, and ensure the tooth heals and moves properly.
