Pediatric Chiropractic Care
Pediatric Chiropractic Care Near You
Children are constantly growing, moving, playing, and participating in new activities. When discomfort, an injury, or a change in movement starts affecting what your child normally does, it can be difficult to know whether it needs a closer look.
At The Feel Good Doc, we provide pediatric chiropractic care near you with an individualized approach. We consider your child’s age, development, health history, symptoms, activity level, and movement before discussing whether chiropractic or another type of care may be appropriate.
What Is Pediatric Chiropractic Care?
Pediatric chiropractic care focuses on musculoskeletal concerns involving the joints, muscles, spine, and movement.
Children are not treated like smaller adults. Their evaluation and any care provided should take their age, size, stage of development, health history, and specific concern into account.
Parents or guardians are involved throughout the process. We explain what we are evaluating, answer your questions, and discuss the available options before recommending care.
What Concerns May Be Evaluated?
Depending on your child’s age and symptoms, an evaluation may be appropriate for concerns such as:
Back or neck discomfort
Muscle or joint soreness
Reduced or uncomfortable movement
Certain sports or recreational injuries
Symptoms after a minor musculoskeletal injury
Recurring discomfort related to physical activity
Movement or posture concerns
Chiropractic care is not appropriate for every symptom or condition. If we believe your child needs medical evaluation or another type of care, we can discuss the appropriate next step.
What About Chiropractic Care for Infants?
Infants require especially careful evaluation because they cannot describe their symptoms and many concerns can have medical or developmental causes.
If you have concerns about your infant’s movement, positioning, or physical comfort, we first consider the health history, development, and signs that may require evaluation by a pediatric medical provider.
Chiropractic care should not replace appropriate medical care for concerns such as feeding problems, persistent crying, fever, infections, breathing problems, digestive symptoms, or developmental delays.
Any care considered for an infant must be appropriate for the infant’s age, size, development, and specific musculoskeletal concern.
What to Expect During Your Child’s Visit
The visit starts with a conversation about your concerns, your child’s health history, current symptoms, activities, and any previous injuries or medical conditions.
Depending on your child’s age and reason for visiting, we may assess:
Movement and mobility
Range of motion
Strength when age-appropriate
Joint and muscle function
Areas of tenderness
Balance or coordination when relevant
Movement related to sports or daily activities
We explain what we find in straightforward language and discuss whether treatment, monitoring, home guidance, or another evaluation may be appropriate.
Pediatric Sports and Activity-Related Injuries
Growing children and teens may develop musculoskeletal symptoms through sports, exercise, play, or repetitive activity.
Dr. Walter E. Mendoza is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician and has experience working with sports-related injuries. For young athletes, we consider both the injured area and the physical demands of their activity.
Depending on the injury, care may include rehabilitation exercises, movement guidance, soft-tissue care, or other conservative options when appropriate.
We do not encourage children to push through significant pain to return to sports sooner. When they can return depends on the injury, their progress, and the physical demands of the sport.
When Should Your Child Receive Medical Care First?
Some symptoms need prompt medical evaluation rather than routine chiropractic care.
Seek appropriate medical care if your child has:
Severe or rapidly worsening pain
Significant weakness or loss of sensation
Difficulty walking after an injury
An obvious deformity
A suspected fracture or dislocation
Loss of consciousness or symptoms of a concussion
Fever or signs of illness with significant pain
Problems with bladder or bowel control
Significant symptoms after major trauma
For infants, concerns such as difficulty breathing, unusual lethargy, persistent vomiting, fever, feeding problems, or significant developmental changes should also receive appropriate medical evaluation.
Supporting Healthy Movement as Children Grow
Everyday movement, physical activity, adequate rest, and age-appropriate exercise all support musculoskeletal health.
Depending on your child’s needs, we may discuss practical strategies for movement, sports participation, activity changes, or exercises to continue at home.
Our goal is not to create a “perfect” posture or movement pattern. We focus on helping your child move comfortably and participate in age-appropriate activities when possible.

FAQs
Is chiropractic care appropriate for every child?
No. Whether chiropractic care is appropriate depends on the child’s age, health history, symptoms, examination findings, and the reason for seeking care. Some concerns require medical evaluation or another type of treatment.
Can infants receive chiropractic care?
We can evaluate infants for certain musculoskeletal concerns, but they require particularly careful assessment. We first determine whether the concern falls within our scope of care or needs evaluation by another healthcare professional.
What happens during my child’s first visit?
We discuss your child’s health history, symptoms, activities, and your concerns. We may then perform an age-appropriate physical assessment to evaluate movement and musculoskeletal function.
Does my child need imaging?
Not necessarily. Imaging is not routinely needed for every musculoskeletal concern. We consider it only when there is a specific clinical reason and the information could affect your child’s care.
Can you evaluate sports injuries in children and teens?
Yes. We can evaluate appropriate musculoskeletal sports injuries and consider the child’s age, development, activity level, symptoms, and goals when discussing care.
Will a parent or guardian be involved?
Yes. Parents or guardians are involved in the evaluation and treatment decisions for children, and we encourage you to ask questions throughout the process.
