Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy Near You
An injury may improve, but your body may still not feel quite back to normal. Stiffness, weakness, limited movement, or difficulty returning to your usual activities can continue even after the initial symptoms have settled.
At The Feel Good Doc, we provide personalized physiotherapy near you at our Freeport and Massapequa locations. Dr. Walter E. Mendoza and our team consider your symptoms, health history, movement, activity level, lifestyle, and goals when developing a rehabilitation plan.
What Is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy uses movement, therapeutic exercises, mobility work, and other rehabilitation techniques to support strength, function, balance, and comfortable movement.
Rather than following the same routine for everyone, we assess how you move, where you are having difficulty, and which activities you want to return to. We can then adjust your plan to meet your needs and support your progress.
What Can Physiotherapy Help With?
Physiotherapy may be considered when pain, weakness, stiffness, or limited movement affects your daily activities. It may also support recovery after certain injuries.
Depending on your condition, care may help with:
Reduced strength or flexibility
Limited joint mobility
Balance or coordination concerns
Stiffness after an injury
Sports-related injuries
Auto accident injuries
Work-related strains and injuries
Difficulty returning to exercise or daily activities
Ongoing movement limitations
We first assess your condition to determine whether rehabilitation is appropriate and whether additional evaluation or testing may be useful.
What May Your Treatment Include?
Your rehabilitation plan depends on what we find during your evaluation and may include:
Movement Assessment
We assess relevant movement patterns, mobility, strength, balance, posture, and functional limitations.
Therapeutic Exercise
Guided exercises may help improve strength, control, coordination, and endurance.
Mobility Work
Stretching and movement exercises may help improve flexibility and address stiffness.
Manual and Soft-Tissue Techniques
We may use hands-on techniques when muscle or soft-tissue concerns affect your movement.
Functional Rehabilitation
We can adapt exercises to the activities you need for work, sports, exercise, or everyday life.
Home Exercises
We may give you exercises to continue between visits so you can stay involved in your progress.
Your plan may change as your strength, movement, and function improve.
Sports and Injury Rehabilitation
Dr. Mendoza has experience working with athletes and sports-related injuries. Our practice also provides care for musculoskeletal concerns related to auto accidents and workplace injuries.
If an injury has affected your strength, movement, balance, or ability to perform certain activities, rehabilitation may be one part of your recovery plan. We look at how the injury affects you as a whole rather than focusing only on where you feel discomfort.
Our goal is to help you improve function and gradually return to the activities that matter to you without promising the same outcome or timeline for everyone.
When Should You Consider Physiotherapy?
Consider an evaluation if:
An injury continues to affect how you move
You have ongoing weakness or stiffness
Your range of motion remains limited
You are having difficulty returning to exercise or sports
Everyday tasks have become more difficult
Balance or coordination has changed
Recovery is taking longer than expected
Symptoms such as persistent numbness, tingling, radiating pain, or weakness may require additional evaluation. Depending on your symptoms, diagnostic imaging or EMG/NCV testing may be considered.
Seek urgent medical attention for sudden or severe weakness, significant loss of sensation, or new loss of bladder or bowel control.
What to Expect During Your Visit
Your first visit begins with a conversation about your symptoms, health history, medications, previous injuries, activities, and goals.
We may assess your movement, mobility, strength, flexibility, balance, and other areas related to your concern. Once we understand what is affecting your function, we explain our findings and discuss your options.
If physiotherapy is appropriate, we develop a plan around your current abilities and goals. As you progress, we can adjust the exercises and level of difficulty based on how you respond.
Supporting Your Progress Between Visits
Rehabilitation does not end when you leave the clinic. What you do between visits can also support your progress.
Follow your home exercise program as directed, increase activity gradually, take movement breaks when needed, and let us know if an exercise causes new or worsening symptoms.
Consistency can help you build strength and confidence as you work toward your functional goals.

FAQs
Do I need a referral for physiotherapy?
Referral requirements can vary depending on your insurance plan and circumstances. Contact our office and your insurance provider to confirm what applies to you.
How is physiotherapy different from chiropractic care?
Physiotherapy focuses more on movement, exercise, strength, and functional rehabilitation. Chiropractic care may include adjustments and other approaches for musculoskeletal concerns. Depending on your needs, both may be included in a broader care plan.
Will I receive exercises to do at home?
You may. If home exercises are appropriate, we explain how to perform them and how they fit into your rehabilitation plan.
How long will physiotherapy take?
There is no standard timeline for everyone. The length and frequency of care depend on your condition, goals, progress, and response to rehabilitation.
Can physiotherapy be uncomfortable?
Some exercises may require effort or lead to mild, temporary muscle soreness. Significant or worsening pain should not simply be ignored. Let us know if a movement or exercise does not feel right so we can adjust your plan.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and gives us access to the area being assessed. Bring any relevant medical information, medication details, or previous imaging or reports if available.
